To Bee or Not?

A few weeks ago, I joined my first Flickr Bee. I know that many of my KC MQG friends participate in all sorts of bees and swaps so I thought I'd join the fun.  I signed up for the Mod Mosaic Scrap Bee based on Elizabeth Hartman's Mod Mosaic piecing method.  Check out the tutorial on her blog!

For the bee, we can opt to make anywhere from 5 to 20 blocks, in multiples of five.  We send them to the Queen who will in turn send us an equal number of blocks from other bee members.  Some members whipped out 20 blocks in no time...it has taken me 3 weeks just to finish 2.  Good thing I only signed up for 5!

Anyway...here is my first completed Mod Mosaic Block:

And here's #2!

I haven't decided whether I am loving this piecing method or not...but...the whole point is to try something new, right?  The fact that this is taking a minimal investment (I needed to buy White) and using a good chunk of fabric scraps is an added bonus.

Two down, three to go!  I'll keep you posted (argh!) on my progress!

  1. My vintage sheet bee is experimenting with these this month. Just got the assignment today. I have been wanting to try it... Might dive in tonight and see how tricky it is...

    Yours are very pretty!
