Lucky Me!

Time to share my loot from the For the Love of Solids Swap on flickr.  But first...

When I posted about my placemats, I told you all about my inspiration from  Teaginny Designs Seaglass Wallhanging.  Tammy at Marmalade Fabrics sponsored a giveaway bundle of the lovely Kona solids that Alex used to make her quilt.  The lucky winner of the giveaway was Ronit of Two Hippos...who just happened to be MY swap partner! How ironic is that?

Now it's time to share my awesome swap package from Rene' Creates!  When I saw Rene's swap package posted on flickr, I commented (very enthusiastically) that her partner would be VERY HAPPY!  When I opened the package and I realized that I was her partner, well...I was indeed VERY HAPPY!

I had asked for a wallhanging for my office.  I work at home, reading FDA guidance documents and writing regulatory submissions, talking on the phone and logging onto meetings.  Something happy and bright would be a welcome addition!

Rene' - Please note the King Tut variegated selection, 2nd row from the top!

Obviously, this is not the wall of my office!  I decided to hang Rene's quilt in my sewing room for inspiration.  I really love the orange and yellow center surrounded by the blues...and I LOVE LOVE LOVE the circle quilting. Rene' used a green thread for the quilting and the effect is lovely.  Can you tell that I am very pleased with my first swapping experience?

Check out Rene's blog...her pictures are WAY better than mine!

Rene' also made me a lovely trivet.  I noticed (and after reading her blog, I know that she also noticed) that we both used the same King Tut variegated thread for our quilting!  Our Swap Mamas were excellent matchmakers!  The rest of my goodies included a lovely pouch (which will be a future Home for Hexies), some really cute earrings and the MOST GORGEOUS SEAM RIPPER EVER!

The seam ripper head can be stored in the handle!  Genius!

Let's face it.  Seam ripping...well, we're not usually very happy when we have to "unsew".  This little lovely will certainly take the the sting out of it for me!

This swap has been SO MUCH FUN!  Although I was stressed about it at first...due to total lack of inspiration...and stressed about it at the end...due to fast-approaching deadlines, I really enjoyed it.  I've made two new friends in Ronit and Rene' and that's what it's all about!

Now...one last tidbit to share...just to show how close-knit our quilty community is.  I was scrolling through Rene's blog and found that the seam ripper was made by Amy's (During Quiet Time) husband, Mark.  So, I clicked on through to Amy's blog and read that she has a new sponsor - Tammy of Marmalade Fabrics!

That would be the same Tammy who sponsored the fabric giveaway of Alex who made the inspiration quilt won by Ronit who received the placemats made by Me who received the awesome seam ripper from Rene' who got the seam ripper from Amy who is sponsored by Tammy!  Whew!!!

Well...I think that's MORE than  enough for one blog post.  I am trying to make up for lost time, I suppose.  I think I'll head up to my sewing room to finish up a quilt top and admire my lovelies...and hope that I won't need to use that seam ripper!

  3. Mary Anne, I so enjoyed reading this post! It's nice to get a peek into your sewing room, and I am envious of all the varieties of King Tut thread you have there in your inventory. This was my first swap experience as well, and I have to say it couldn't have been any better. Of course, that's easy to say now...now that I know you have received and like your swap package ;-) I have one of Amy's seam rippers too, and I hope you won't need to use it often, but if you do, it's the way to go!
