I haven't had too much time to sew lately, but I did recently finish up these potholders. I am finally getting comfortable with going pattern-free and I am so happy with how these turned out! Small projects like this are great for trying out new techniques...like grommets...
...and piecing my binding to match the piecing of the Log Cabin block. It took a bit of time, but I think it was worth it!
I took the opportunity to try out the Ladder Stitch to sew down the back of my binding. I am NOT a hand-stitching kinda' gal...probably because I don't like the looks of my ugly stitching. BUT...thanks to my KC MQG friends and YouTube, I now know the magic of the ladder stitch and its hidden thread!
I had a lot of fun with my quilting design, too. I love how the stitch lines reflect the log cabin block on the top. I am pleased as punch! In fact...I think it's going to be a potholder kinda' Christmas!
In other news...this past weekend the family took a "little" road trip to Aggieland to watch our Texas Aggies play against Missouri. We had a great time...even though we lost. :-(. We must have had fun...after 11 hours in the car we're already planning to do it again next year!
I'm looking forward to a sewing-filled weekend - hope y'all are too!

ReplyDeleteHow did I do the binding? Very Carefully!!! lol!
ReplyDeleteMaybe I will try to put a "tute" together...just for you two! ;-)
The potholders look just great! Love the binding, and your quilting design is perfect! Think you've inspired me to add pot holders to my to-do list!
